“Vision without execution is merely an illusion.” Africa has long aspired to healthcare sovereignty, local manufacturing, and equitable access to advanced medicines. Today, those ambitions are becoming reality through execution.
Founded just two years ago, Bio Usawa is building Africa’s first end-to-end monoclonal antibody company. By Q4 2026, the company expects to launch its Biotech R&D and Manufacturing Plant and commercialize BioUcenta™, its flagship monoclonal antibody.
Developed through a partnership with European biotech leader Bioeq, BioUcenta™ combines global scientific expertise with Bio Usawa’s vision of creating an African biotechnology champion. The goal is simple: deliver high-quality biologic therapies at affordable prices, expanding access for patients across the continent.
Beyond a single product, BioUcenta™ is creating a foundation for future innovation. The regulatory, commercial, manufacturing, and supply chain capabilities being built today will support a growing pipeline of treatments in ophthalmology, oncology, autoimmune diseases, and infectious diseases.
Most importantly, this journey is building African talent. Scientists, pharmacists, engineers, and business leaders are proving that world-class biotechnology expertise already exists on the continent and can thrive when given the opportunity.
To Africa’s diaspora, the message is clear: this is the moment to return, help build globally competitive biotechnology platforms, and shape the future of healthcare in Africa.
Africa is no longer waiting for the future. We are building it. And the next chapter of African biotechnology will be written by us.
