Meet the AORTIC — Bio Usawa Pioneering Cohort: Diane Eléonore Bance

Date:April 22, 2026

The AORTIC—Bio Usawa Microgrant Program is supporting a cohort of five early-career researchers advancing practical solutions in cancer care. The group was selected from a pool of more than 150 applications.

In today’s spotlight, we turn to Burkina Faso and the work of Diane Eléonore Bance.

Her research examines access and delays in radiotherapeutic management for breast and cervical cancer patients in Burkina Faso — a critical area where timing directly impacts outcomes.

By generating evidence on where and why delays occur, this work aims to inform improvements in service delivery and patient pathways.

This is the kind of grounded, system-focused research the program is designed to support.
