Prof. Nazik Hammad, Bio Usawa’s Chief Medical Officer for Oncology, recently visited the company’s emerging manufacturing facility in the Kigali Special Economic Zone, where she witnessed progress as Bio Usawa advances toward operational readiness.
During the visit, Prof. Hammad toured the facility, observed newly arrived modular manufacturing units (BioMod™) from California, and met with Bio Usawa CEO and President Dr. Menghis Bairu, who is in Kigali to personally oversee the offloading and installation process.

The facility is being developed to support the manufacture of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), which will strengthen biotechnology capabilities in Rwanda and contribute to the growth of biomanufacturing capacity across the region.

The Kigali project forms a core part of Bio Usawa’s mission to develop and manufacture high-quality and affordable biologics that improve health outcomes and expand access to advanced therapies on the continent.
