The Bio Usawa team continues to share highlights from the World Local Production Forum (WLPF), where our CEO, Dr. Menghis Bairu, represented Bio Usawa on the global stage.
Of particular note was Dr. Bairu’s exchange with South African Health Minister, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, with whom he shared Bio Usawa’s mission to manufacture quality, affordable monoclonal antibodies, in Africa, for Africa and beyond. During the conversation, Dr. Bairu emphasized the urgent need for Africa to manufacture its own life-saving medicines to increase self-sustainability and healthcare resilience across the Continent.
South Africa and the Health Ministry under Dr. Motsoaledi’s leadership, actively support the biotechnology sector through various initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, improving healthcare outcomes, and driving economic growth.
As we continue our work to pioneer African-led biotechnology manufacturing, moments like these remind us of the strength of collaboration and shared purpose.
Bio Usawa has a singular mission: to manufacture high-quality, effective and affordable biosimilars for patients in Africa. We are applying our 100+ years of combined experience in the industry in partnership with governments, agencies, educators and health professionals to make transformative biomedicines in Africa, by Africans, for Africans and beyond.
